Una de las grandes necesidades en la industria es la integración de tecnologías sostenibles y medioambientalmente neutras, el laboratorio de biotecnología ambiental trabaja en la búsqueda y selección de microorganismos desde los ambientes naturales presentes en la región de Antofagasta para el desarrollo de herramientas biotecnológicas que tengan una aplicación en la industria, iniciando con el conocimiento fundamental de los microorganismos en aspectos bioquímicos, moleculares y metabólicos, hasta llegar a posibles soluciones a problemas que causan un gran impacto ambiental.

One of the great needs in the industry is the integration of sustainable and environmentally neutral technologies, the environmental biotechnology laboratory works in the search and selection of microorganisms from the natural environments present in the region of Antofagasta for the development of biotechnological tools that have an application in the industry, starting with the fundamental knowledge of microorganisms in biochemical, molecular and metabolic aspects, until reaching possible solutions to problems that cause a great environmental impact.
